We anticipate the need for one or more Consolidated Collector - Reader(s) within the Meter Reading Department at the Marshall Operations Center in Minneapolis, MN. The starting rate of pay for this position is $27.83 hourly. The position will be posted for 10 Working Days from April 16, 2024  to April 30, 2024.

Summary
This is a full-time, benefitted position.

As a Consolidated Collector - Reader, you will perform credit collection and meter reading duties.  

You may perform traditional or van automated meter reading.  Traditional meter reading requires that you accurately read and/or probe electric and/or gas meters and enter readings into a handheld processor for commercial and residential accounts. Additionally, you may perform automated van meter reading which requires you to operate a specially equipped company van to obtain electronic meter readings as you drive close to meters.  You will be responsible for the safe operation of the van in varying weather conditions, reporting needed maintenance and keeping the van neat and clean.  

Collection work requires the disconnection and/or reconnection of electric services and the disconnection of gas services, collections of delinquent accounts, check seals, and follow-up on self-reconnects. Plus ascertaining meter information for idle meters, high or low usage accounts, meter locations and addresses, billing rates, usage verification, verify as correct or identify required action You will inform customers of right to file inability to pay protection during cold weather months and refer them to agencies for energy assistances. 

This is a field position, 80% of the time you will be working outside of the office.  This position requires customer interaction and a responsibility to project a positive company image at all times.  Additionally, you will be an important member of the Xcel Energy team and interact with technicians to keep the provision of electrical and/or gas services safe and economical. Hours worked will be during the normal business day and occasionally after hours or on weekends as needed.

Required
*     High School diploma or equivalent 

*     Valid driver's license
*     Must have good communication and teamwork skills
*     Demonstrated ability to work independently
*     Must be able to read and follow maps
*     Must be able to walk for extended periods of time through various terrain
*     Requires participation in after-hour emergency callouts in variable weather conditions
*     Must be committed to working safely and in compliance with all company safety rules

Preferred

*     Familiarity and experience with Customer Resource System (CRS), Field Collector Mobile Application (FMCA), credit cycles, meter reading, and/or utility regulation. 
*     Knowledge of road/street locations of service area
*     Electric and/or gas training or similar work experience  

*     Previous customer service experience and mathematical aptitude

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $27.83 per hour
