Position Summary

The position is responsible for the leadership and direction of all overhaul activities and personnel to achieve overhaul performance objectives. This position is accountable for the effective implementation of the overhaul planning, execution and the post overhaul continuous learning cycle process for the region. Provides leadership and direct oversight of the contractor workforce (>100) used during overhauls and is responsible for the implementation of the company's contractor safety policy. Coordinates the overhaul planning process, the identification and development of the overhaul work scope and is responsible to ensure the development and administration of overhaul contracts. Provides direction to matrixed resources to ensure successful overhaul planning, overhaul execution and the continuous overhaul learning cycle. Responsible for effective management of the overhaul budget

Essential Responsibilities

  • Overhaul Management: Implements and is accountable for the overhaul planning, overhaul execution and the post overhaul continuous learning cycle process. Provides leadership and work direction for all overhaul labor resources (>600) and supports the effective management of the overhaul budget. Responsible for compliance with critical path schedules, work scope specifications, and overhaul O&M and capital project performance objectives. Is accountable to meet or exceed overhaul performance objectives with plant management.

  • Overhaul Workforce: Provides leadership and direct oversight of the contractor workforce (>100) used during overhauls and leads the evaluation of contractor performance. Coordinates the overhaul planning process, the identification and development of the overhaul work scope and is responsible to ensure the development and administration of overhaul contracts. Supports the effort to establish effective relationships with contractors. Provides input for the selection and optimization of overhaul labor resources utilized in support of the overhaul and ensures contractors are qualified to perform assigned work. Identifies & implements actions which optimize overhaul labor resources to achieve required flexibility, availability and cost effectiveness.

  • Fleet Process Standardization: Implements overhaul management processes and provides input for the continuous improvement of overhaul management processes, overhaul practices and supporting systems across the fleet to bring added value to the business. Collaborates with others to share lessons learned and best practices and incorporates these into the overhaul management process. Incorporates process improvement through the consistent deployment of lessons learned across the fleet. Prepares overhaul reports to support the continuous overhaul learning cycle.

  • Team Collaboration: Provides work direction and leadership to the matrixed resources (technical subject matter experts, system owners, plant engineers and other plant resources) to ensure successful overhaul planning, overhaul execution and the continuous overhaul learning cycle.

  • Safety: Responsible for implementation and compliance with the company's contractor safety policy as it relates to plant overhaul activities. Ensure that safety is a prime focus of all personnel and that all safety policies & procedures are adhered to by all workers.


Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or similar technical discipline from an accredited college/university AND more than of six years of experience in power generation and/or the energy industry related to operations/maintenance, overhaul outage/management, planning, or similar experience, including previous leadership experience in these areas. An additional eight years of directly-related education and/or experience beyond the experience requirement above may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement. A comprehensive understanding of power plant operation and maintenance is essential. Ability to effectively manage multiple work groups and/or contractors of different disciplines. Demonstrated relationship skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively use critical path scheduling. Proven project management capabilities with track record of demonstrated results. Must be able to travel to the power plants and work planned overhaul schedules.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $90,000.00 to $127,332.00 per year

Pay and benefit packages may vary based on position. Some employees are under collective bargaining agreements, which determine the benefits they will receive.
