Position Summary

Responsible for administering internal programs designed to ensure compliance with various regulatory requirements, primarily the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (FERC) Standards of Conduct compliance program. Support the administration and development of compliance procedures. Provide oversight to ensure Xcel Energy adheres to internal procedures and processes to remain compliant with FERC rules, including Standards of Conduct and energy market compliance. Monitor, maintain, and oversee utilization of business tools to track compliance activities. Perform compliance monitoring activities. Escalate potential compliance concerns to manager.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Serve as the company's point of contact to respond to questions on the FERC Standards of Conduct (SOC). Advise staff on the standards and how to address compliance issues. Consult with management and legal counsel on more complex issues to provide interpretations to maintain compliance. Take action to remediate potential non-compliance issues that are identified. Ensure personnel complete required training to limit risk of recurring violations.

  • Monitor SOC and market-related compliance activities as directed by management and legal counsel to ensure compliance. Ensure processes and controls are operating as designed, monitor internal controls, and recommend system/process improvements as needed. Identify potential gaps, advise management of issues, and recommend solutions.

  • Update and create new documentation of procedures to ensure compliance with FERC requirements. Coordinate recurring assessments. Assist with the creation and documentation of new controls, processes, and test plans to address identified business risks. Implement various compliance tests and controls as needed. Recommend process improvements as applicable.

  • Coordinate the development or enhancement of data systems designed to meet FERC recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Work with cross-functional teams to analyze compliance data, identify potential compliance gaps, recommend solutions to management, and implement process, policy or system changes, as required.

  • Manage the eGRC compliance tracking tool to update tasks, develop status reports on various activities, and address user concerns.

  • Perform other compliance duties as required.


Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in business, a social science, statistics, information systems, or related field.

- Three years of experience in compliance work, project coordination, data management, and/or system administration.

- Knowledge of FERC Standards of Conduct preferred or must become well-versed in FERC Standards of Conduct requirements within 6 months in the position.

- Work experience in the electric utility industry is preferred.

- Experience in procedure development, compliance monitoring, and/or implementing federal rules and regulations is strongly preferred.

- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to manage large amounts of data and high attention to detail required.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $61,500.00 to $81,000.00 per year
