Position Summary

The IT Software Engineer will work on a team consisting of ~5 engineers to deliver software leveraging an Agile SAFe framework. You will be accountable to your team members and contribute to technical aspects of IT solution design & deliver, leverage secure development practices, and support operational excellence as the solution transitions to steady state operations.

 

We are looking for Software Engineers across three functions:

  • Front End Engineers will interact with the SalesForce CRM solution, working on Sales, Service and Marketing Cloud modules, developing/configuring software using Field Services Lightning declarative programming.
  • Middle Layer Integrations Engineers will interface with technologies leveraging Apigee APIM/Informatica Data and Application Integration layers.
  • Back-End Data Engineers will work with AWS RDS (database), EC2/Lambda (compute) and S3 (storage).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Solution Delivery: Lead and support solution lifecycle technical activities for your CXT Engineering team by designing, building, and testing solutions for Xcel’s CXT program. Ensure that solutions are designed for improved availability, maintainability, and operational performance. Lead design, ensuring Enterprise Architecture, Security, Operations and Compliance aspects are continuously integrated into solutions. Provide input to cost and schedule estimation. Responsible for overall integrity of system design and operation.
  • Operations: Review solution performance, and continually assess health of systems. Track and drive awareness to operational and technical debt risks. Provide escalated support to incident and problem management. Utilize analytics to improve availability, reliability, efficiency, and capacity. Oversee vendor activities. Oversee vendor activities.    
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Continuously stay current on, and apply, technical industry knowledge pertaining to the respective domain. Communicate API contracts with API consumers.
  • Relationship Management: Conduct peer reviews and approve system changes and technical solution design. Coach and mentor less experience team members. Partner cross-organizationally to drive minimal costs on optimal solutions. Provide in-depth technical information to stakeholders as needed.             

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Seven years of related functional experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Science, Business or related field, or 4 years of experience equivalent to the position.
  • Excellent communication skills, effective with varying organizational levels and skill set, and able to translate between technical and non-technical concepts.
  • Excellent Relationship Management and collaboration skills, with a track record of working as one team cross-organizationally to drive innovation and business results
  • Experience managing the lifecycle of technical solutions
  • Deep Subject Matter Expertise within the respective system domain products, platforms, processes, and architecture.
  • Broad general knowledge of technology architecture, infrastructure, network, security and software principles and models
  • Experience working in partnership with internal and external vendors.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Extensive knowledge of future technology trends within area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership on technical aspects of large-scale projects.
  • Experience with delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum) and operational models (ITIL)
  • Experience and understanding of core IT Service Management functions, such as Change Management and Incident Management.

 

We are looking for the preferred specific experience outlined by Engineer type below in any of the following areas:

Front End Salesforce Engineer:

  • Salesforce development experience working with the following:
    • Salesforce development technologies (Apex, SOQL, Visual Force, Triggers, Lightning); and
    • Salesforce products (Communities, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, Field Service Lightening)
  • 2+ years software development experience in the following:
    • Salesforce implementation with Agile, Scrum, and DevOps Automation Pipeline methodologies in the utility industry; and
    • Salesforce development in a distributed and multi-vendor setting

Middle Layer Integrations Engineer:

  • API development/implementation experience working with middleware technologies (Informatica, RESTful APIs, Services, etc.)
  • 5+ years software development experience in application integration using REST / SOAP web services
  • 3+ years of relevant agile software development with proven track record of delivering successful customer facing digital products
  • 1+ years building and deploying API’s with Apigee Edge or Informatica Cloud Application Integration Service

Back End Data Engineer:

  •  
  • Experience identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes 
  • 5+ years’ experience building infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using Informatica IICS, AWS and SQL technologies
  • 3+ years of relevant agile software development with proven track record of delivering successful customer facing digital products
  • 3+ years of experience assembling large, complex sets of data that meet non-functional and functional business requirements
  • AWS cloud experience with EC2, RDS MySQL, Lambda and S3 services a plus

 

 

During COVID-19 Pandemic this position may require the ability to temporarily work remote within the company service territory until company protocol dictates return to the office criteria has been met. Telecommuting Policy: A plan has been created to officially rollout a hybrid work-from-home option that will take effect when it is safe to move forward to return to the workplace. This position will participate in this new policy.
