Design Researcher -XCELab Job

Position Summary
Plan, conduct, and present design and user research for human-centered design projects as part of XCELab. Validate, synthesize, and communicate findings utilizing a wide variety of tools. Shape and improve decision-making and execution amongst design, product, and business teams. Support in the facilitation of XCELab design thinking sessions.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Execute design research activities across the entire project lifecycle, from concept to launch. Research activities span qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Collaborate in the synthesis process to create captivating research summaries that identify unmet needs and articulate key insights. Champion the user by defining user needs, goals, journeys, tasks and workflows.
  • Support in facilitation of research report outs and other design thinking-based sessions

  • Partner with stakeholders to create holistic experience strategies as a foundation for the overall solution.
  • Refine and optimize experiences through iterative testing and participation throughout the experience development process.
  • Ensure the project meets pre-determined research objectives, within expected timing and research constraints.
  • Manage external vendors and consultants to drive accountability toward objectives, deliverables, and timelines.


Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in research, UX/UI, or related field.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with design thinking, human-centered design, design research, etc.
  • Experience in market research activities such as surveys and statistical analysis.
  • Developing screeners and recruitment.
  • Technology-based research platforms for unmoderated testing, screen recording, usability software and statistical analysis.


 

Preferred

  • UX research methods such as contextual inquiry, 1:1 interviews, card sorting, diary studies, etc.
  • Evaluative research methods such as concept testing,  and heuristic evaluations.
  • Experience with market research activities such as surveys and statistical analysis.
  • Experience developing screeners and recruitment collateral.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $79,000 to $113,000 per year
