This position performs lead and field supervisory duties to include, manage a staff of credit/collections, revenue protection, and meter reading field personnel in multiple sites. Provides direction, leadership, supervision, and vision for all activities related to credit/collection, revenue protection and data collection for Xcel Energy. Should be accountable for the accurate and timely field credit work, revenue protection, and data acquisition of energy meters via utilization of human resources and automated technologies. Develops, processes, and analyzes all credit/collection and data acquisition and customer information reports. Analyzes, routes, and schedules daily workload and equipment for department personnel. Responsible for hiring, firing, and disciplinary processes. Maintains responsibility to the unit for compliance of policies, procedures, standards and implementation of labor agreements. Meets or exceeds customer needs by effectively and efficiently responding to inquiries regarding field credit/collection and meter reading and resolving customer issues.

  • Provide field supervision, leadership, coaching, and support to bargaining unit employees. Will be responsible for hiring, firing, training, performance evaluation, and the disciplinary process. Where applicable, interpret and administer the terms and conditions of the labor agreements to maintain a positive relationship with the union.
  • Performs lead duties to include daily guidance, direction, and support to field personnel in order to meet operational requirements and commitments. Schedules daily work to insure all field credit/collection, revenue protection and meter reading assignments are completed.
  • Responsible for daily verification and maintenance of field credit/collection, revenue protection and meter reading data to ensure integrity of collection, billing information; creates and assigns daily credit/collection, revenue protection and meter reading work to field personnel.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and competency regarding all related credit/collection, data acquisition applications. Acts as point of contact for customers. Responsible for resolution of escalated customer requests and inquiries.
  • Compiles, compares and analyzes all credit, collection, revenue protection and data acquisition and customer information reports. Researches and processes all field orders, data acquisition errors; effectively manages all collection and data acquisition systems to ensure that all data is acquired and transmitted to credit and billing on time; Maintains data integrity through verification processes; Processes and tracks vacant premise, second, third, fourth calls, and re-read requests.
  • Determines optimum configuration and total field credit calls and meter count to ensure maximum data acquisition productivity; Develops the most efficient and effective order for acquiring data; Analyzes and determines correct route placement for new business and existing residential and commercial; Accomplishes all routing and support activities to meet or exceed corporate, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for management and adherence to policies and procedures, measurements, and evaluations in support of Xcel Energy's commitment to safety.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years experience in credit/collections, meter reading, or customer care operations
  • 1 year experience working with bargaining unit employees
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite

  • 2 years of college (3 years of experience would substitute for the degree)


This position requires a behavioral assessment prior to being considered for an interview.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $54,800 to $77,800 per year
