This position can be filled as either an Engineering Analyst or above or Engineer II or above. Whether the successful candidate is selected as an Engineer or Analyst they will be place it the respective hierarchy based on their qualifications. This role is within the program engineering group at Prairie Island and for IST and Appendix J Program Engineer. Previous experience in IST or Appendix J is preferred.
Engineer II or above
The below description and requirements are for the Engineer II level within the Engineering hierarchy, however this position may be filled at a higher level, which may have additional requirements. Again, the successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience.
Responsibilities
- Considered a competent engineer, but requiring some guidance and support in complex aspects of functional assignments.
- Assists higher engineer levels in work projects with assigned specific accountabilities to further development.
- Aware of and implements process quality requirements. Able to check, verify, or confirm others work at the appropriate level of assessment.
- Able to outline plan for design, development or implementation of specific projects assigned with minimal supervisory guidance.
- Continue technical development through either internal or external training opportunities.
- Seek professional certificate or registration in field of study to the extent necessary to support the job function.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications, which apply to all levels in the engineering hierarchy, require a four-year engineering degree from an American Board of Engineering Technology (ABET) accredited institution. The applicability of the degree shall be documented at time of hiring.
- 2+ years of experience for Engineer II level within hierarchy
- 6+ years of experience for Engineer level within hierarchy
- 10+ years of experience for Senior Engineer level within hierarchy
The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience.
Analyst or above
Position Summary
This opportunity is an Analyst position as a bargaining unit employee. Individuals in this position perform activities in support of the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the nuclear generation power plants. This includes involvement in preparation and review of technical products, such as evaluations, reports, procedure changes, inputs to licensing submittals, and resolution of corrective action issues. In the performance of tasks, the individual applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria, under supervision, to complete assigned tasks.
Essential Responsibilities
- Preparation and review of technical evaluations, technical reports, procedure changes, inputs to licensing submittals, and resolution of corrective actions.
- Develop schedules, utilize work management tools, and perform assignments for technical related activities to support site and fleet goals.
- Attend department and plant meetings and industry/fleet activities. Attend Training.
- May be required to travel to other Xcel Energy sites.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school or equivalent on the job experience or training.
- Additional minimum criteria may be required for higher positions in the analyst hierarchy.
- Ability to obtain and maintain qualifications for unescorted access to Xcel Energy’s nuclear power plants.
A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).
