We anticipate the need for one or more Advanced Step Steamfitter Welder(s) (5th Step or above) /Journeyman Steamfitter Welder(s) at our Wilmarth Plant in Mankato, Minnesota. The rate of pay for this classification is per the Exhibit "A" Wage Schedule. Depending upon what step you will be hired on at, the wage for the Advanced Step Steamfitter/Welder will be a percentage of the Journeyman pay rate which is $47.08 hourly. This position will be posted for 10 working days from April 19, 2021, to April 30, 2021. 
 
5th Step: 80% of the Journeyman rate
6th Step: 85% of the Journeyman rate
7th Step: 90% of the Journeyman rate
8th Step: 95% of the Journeyman rate
 

Summary
Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair items such as machine parts and power plant equipment, according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders, using brazing and/or a variety of arc and/or gas welding equipment. Performs related tasks, such as cutting and grinding.

Required

• High school diploma or GED
• Possess a Steamfitter/Welder certification or pass the company sponsored certification test
• Will be required to safely perform duties of the classification
• May be required to accept temporary assignments at other locations, including nuclear plants, as prescribed by Plant Management
• May be required to meet screening requirements under NRC regulations
• Must pass annual medical evaluation which allows wearing respiratory protection equipment
• Must have a reasonable level of learning ability to develop basic understanding of power plant maintenance and procedures
• Must have the ability to intelligently communicate with plant personnel both verbally and in writing
• Must successfully pass the Edison Electric Institute MASS EEI Test

2. Candidates who successfully pass the assessment will be contacted to come in for an information session and interview.
3. After attending our information session/interview, our Team Leaders will collaborate to decide which candidates are best qualified and offers will be made.
4. Candidates who accept the employment offer will be required to pass Xcel Energy’s background check and drug test. This process can take up to two weeks before clearance is issued.
5. After successful passing of the background check and drug test, candidates are ready to start the training class.
