Summary

The Engineering department at Prairie Island is looking to fill one of more Engineer or above positions. Responsibilities may include development of plant modifications, calculations, engineering evaluations, operability determinations, maintenance of design basis documents, and resolution of Corrective Action Issues. Additional responsibilities include the review of existing / new design documents, support of continued plant operation, assessment of adverse conditions, engineering analyses, and project management skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • This is an IBEW 949 posting.  Responsibilities will be in alignment with Appendix #1, “Professional Hierarchy Guidelines,” of the 949 Engineering Section Labor Agreement.

 

Minimum Requirements for Engineer (Additonal experience and requirements will be required for higher levels)

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering from an American Board of Engineering Technology (ABET) accredited institution.
  • 6+ years of experience, additional experience will be required for high levels

 

Preferred 

  • Power Plant experience 
  • Minnesota Professional Engineer License 

 

A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear Plants including successful completion of Nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the Nuclear Security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).

 

 

This position may require a behavioral assessment prior to being considered for an interview.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $58.48 - 64.43 per hour
