Transmission Business Relations Supervisor Job

Position Summary

Responsible for supervising a team of Transmission Business Analysts to meet customer needs and Company goals in the areas of FERC orders, Transmission interconnections, PSC/PUC requirements and Transmission business interests in general for all Xcel Energy jurisdictions. Maintain a strong understanding of all FERC orders/rulings, PSC/PUC requirements and RTO policies and procedures that affect interconnection and transmission activities in order to advise key Transmission personnel. Provide and support development of strategies with Account Representatives to meet Transmission goals and Federal requirements. Provide supervision to employees working on all FERC filings related to the Transmission business to assure that they comply with all FERC filing requirements. Maintain a strong knowledge and expertise relating to ProjectWise, FERC EQR, FERC e-Tariff and the Xcel Energy transmission Interconnection process.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Manages the interactions and activities of the Transmission Business Analyst Team. Activities include: assurance that Transmission is complying with all FERC orders and regulations, skill coaching, motivation, planning, training and communication. Has full supervisory responsibilities for the assigned team including hiring, development, work assignments, performance evaluation and termination of employees.
  • Develop strategies and plans to advance the critical Company interests of FERC compliance, Customer focus, and Transmission interconnections and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Aligns Transmission Business Relations policies and procedures with Company.
  • Direct and orchestrate employees to monitor, interpret and comply with FERC requirements related to the Transmission function and put in place any required policies and/or procedures to meet those requirements. Establishes and maintains excellent working relationships with internal and external organizations to optimize transmission business relations implementation effectiveness, objectives and strategies.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of FERC orders/rulings, PSC/PUC requirements and RTO policies and procedures that affect interconnection and transmission activities. Must be able to interpret these orders/rulings and how they apply and/or relate to Transmission.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge and expertise relating to ProjectWise, FERC EQR and e-Tariff and any related updates and assist in the management of the Xcel Energy OATT within eTariff and the EQR reporting requirements for Transmission.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Legal or related discipline (four years of experience in a transmission service-related field may substitute for the degree).
  • Three years of experience in one or more of the following transmission areas: planning/asset management, engineering, siting & permitting, project management, construction or business relations with at least three of those years in transmission contract management and/or regulatory.
  • Database experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated project lead experience.
  • Requires a high level of confidentiality and a continued working knowledge of FERC order 888, 2000, 889 and 2004, Standards of Conduct, FERC EQR and e-Tariff requirements.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $87,000 to $123,666 per year
