The transmission communications and public affairs intern will assist in developing written and interactive communications, public affairs, and public outreach materials for Xcel Energy transmission projects throughout all operating companies. Key responsibilities will include writing and editing project and issues-oriented fact sheets, developing, and reviewing key messaging and FAQ documents, writing and coordinating website content, assisting with public meeting development and coordination, and develop/editing policy position statements in coordination with state and federal policy issues.
Project description: Development and implementation of a comprehensive communication and outreach plan, which may include: project key messages and landowner/stakeholder FAQs, several fact sheets (project related and issue-specific), engaging with landowners via phone, email or in-person meetings to answer questions and provide project updates, and coordinating public meetings throughout a project area to provide information to and engage with landowners about issues, as well as support state-sponsored public meetings and hearings.
Minimum Requirements
Experience/Knowledge in
- Journalism/public relations
- Writing and editing
- Public affairs/government relations
- Energy policy
- Ability to commute to location and work remotely are required.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree
in advertising, marketing, business, communications, leadership, personnel
management, business administration, or similar.
- Sophomore and above

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $19.00 per hour
