Position Summary
Xcel Energy is seeking candidates to support our Innovation & Transformation Office, specifically, within our Enterprise Change Management team in Denver, CO and Minneapolis, MN. The paid internship provides an opportunity to showcase your abilities in our Enterprise Change Management team that supports Xcel Energy employees through people, process, and technology changes to help drive adoption and value. The program provides practical work experience to develop your existing skillset, present to senior leadership, and collaborate with key internal stakeholders. Each intern will be relied upon to play a role in achieving department objectives and goals. The program will allow you to apply what you’ve learned in school and further enhance your knowledge through hands on training and provide opportunities to network and learn with other interns across the company.
Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Learn how to use our change management methodology that focused on preparing, managing and sustaining the change.
- Assist with creation of change management plans including change impact assessment, stakeholder analysis, training and communication, and measurement and feedback.
- Learn how to create animated videos to further awareness and education of changes.
- Help executing change management plans including creation of animated videos, training, communication, and maintaining enterprise change SharePoint hub.
- Help with our Change Management Community of Practice and Change Practitioner monthly meetings.
- Utilize our new Power BI Dashboard to help the team manage and report change saturation across the company.
- Support the continued rollout of our new One Xcel Energy Way management system including training, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
This position is for a May 2025 start date. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel’s business needs.
(Starting pay is based on Junior college level and will increase each additional year of college)
Minimum Requirements
- Current student, Junior status (as of May 2025) or higher
- Enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Design, Organizational Psychology, Communications or Training.
- Able to commute to the corporate office in Denver, CO or Minneapolis, MN.
- Able to work full-time during the summer.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3.0 GPA (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher.
- Completed 2 years of undergraduate coursework.
- Experience or Proficiency with Power BI dashboards, video creation software, and training.

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $17.80 to $19.00 per hour
This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
