This position can be based in Denver, Colorado, or Minneapolis, Minnesota, on a hybrid work schedule.

Position Summary

Provides leadership for supporting the execution and management of infrastructure required to operate the modern distribution grid.  Accountable for the deployment of intelligent field devices, new technology to support the use of Advanced Metering Infrastructure and Distributed Intelligence capabilities, deployment of Advanced Distribution Management System and Grid Transformation technologies.  Ensure the advancement of Distribution’s cyber security and data strategy positions and advancement of Distribution’s use of technology in supporting the electric service provided to customers. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the execution of Grid Transformation capital projects including the deployment of intelligent field devices, new technology to support the use of Advanced Metering Infrastructure and Distributed Intelligence capabilities, deployment of Advanced Distribution Management System and Grid Transformation technologies. 

  • Lead and manage the Grid Transformation efforts by ensuring collaboration between the major components to realize optimal grid performance and corporate benefit. This position will ensure the major Grid Transformation components work together to optimize effectiveness and meet development and deployment timelines. The major components include: a) ADMS and OMS b) Intelligent Field Devices c) Field Area Network d) AMI and DI

  • Responsible for building maintaining and improving working relationships with internal and external leaders and service providers to maximize responsiveness and effective resource allocation. Responsible for developing key stakeholder relationships with Technology Services, Business Area Finance, Customer Care and Customer Solutions, Sourcing, Regulatory, Legal and others in order to develop integrated business processes in support of and consistent with corporate initiatives and financial targets.

  • Establish and champion the Unit’s business plan, goals and objectives in coordination with corporate and business unit strategic goals and initiatives with particular emphasis on grid performance, reporting, benchmarking and improvement. Provide strategic direction for all functions of Grid Transformation Strategy. Comply with regulatory procedural requirements.

  • Develop leadership, select, and retain a multi-functional, diversified, well trained, motivated, and empowered workforce. Model innovative approaches. Promote employee involvement in continuous learning, career planning, and enhancing job/industry knowledge and skills. Promote professional registration of engineers. Oversees and implements interpretation and administration of any applicable labor contracts.

Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical energy delivery or other related control center operations role.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

  • Professional Engineering licensure preferred.

  • Experience in managing non-bargaining employees.

  • Working knowledge of operational tools preferred.

  • Ability to serve as media spokesperson may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Power / electricity distribution experience, including intelligent field devices, Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Fault Location Isolation Service Restoration (FLISR), Integrated Volt Var Optimization (IVVO), Field Area Network (FAN), and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI)

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $122,000.00 to $173,000.00 per year

Pay and benefit packages may vary based on position. Some employees are under collective bargaining agreements, which determine the benefits they will receive.
