Our internship positions will be mentored to support users of Microsoft SharePoint sites and related tools. This intern will work with the team in Minneapolis, MN to provide support for end user SharePoint and Microsoft 365 capabilities to enhance the employee experience and to optimize end user capabilities using M365 tools.
This position is a great opportunity to gain system management and end user support experience and grow their knowledge of SharePoint and Microsoft 365 capabilities and associated tools and systems. Through practical field experience and mentoring, successful candidates will gain significant professional confidence and people skills.
Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
SharePoint site content creation 15%
New product research 10%
SharePoint support (inbox management) 10%
Organization and meta-tagging of department and support documentation (over 10k documents) 15%
Site migration assistance 10%
Day-to-day user questions and needs (as able) 15%
Maintain SharePoint site for user M365 information with updates and new materials 15%
Assistance users with workflow technologies (after training) 10%
This position is for a January 1, 2026 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.
Duties for Interns
Day-to-day assistance with SharePoint issues
Training business users on various SharePoint capabilities
Assist business users with the creation of workflows and overall automation concepts
Assist in content moving and consolidation for business users in SharePoint
Train business users in Microsoft 365 groups and permissions
Creation of technical job aids and documenting governance items
Minimum Requirements
Ability to commute to downtown work location is required.
Current student, Freshman or above
Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in: computer engineering, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, data science, or similar.
Proficiency with SharePoint and other Microsoft 365 tools
Must be self- motivated, have good business process skills and technical aptitude, and ability to work well with others.
Reliable and able to prioritize and work independently
Ability to learn and apply structured analysis and delivery methods.
Strong problem solving, analytical and detail orientation.
Strong communication skills, effective with varying organizational levels and skill sets.
Strong relationship management and collaboration skills.
Must be able to work 8+ hours per week while school is in session and 40 hours per week when school is out of session
Appropriate space to accommodate working remotely.
Preferred Requirements
GPA of 3.0 (out of a 4.0 scale) or higher
Able to commit to the internship for 12 months or longer
