Position Summary
This position is primarily responsible for development of NRC Exams for Licensed Operators. This highly specialized field requires a significant number of specialized skills and qualification. Performing this activity poorly has direct regulatory and financial consequences in higher than required NRC exam failure rates.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develops all parts of NRC Initial License Exams including; Exam Outline, Operational Exam, and Written Exam. This includes creation of exam items, obtaining exam items from existing sources and assembling complete exam instruments. Completes all associated administrative paperwork associated with NRC Initial Exam development and administration. Performs validation activities for NRC Initial Exams. Interfaces with NRC examiners during all phases of Initial Exam development and administration. Coordinates and supports Initial Exam administration activities.
- Develops NRC Annual Operating Exams and NRC Biennial Written Exams. This includes creation of exam items, obtaining exam items from existing sources and assembling complete exam instruments. Completes all associated administrative paperwork associated with NRC Annual Operating Exam and NRC Biennial Written Exam development and administration. Coordinates and supports NRC Initial Exam administration activities.
- Maintains the facility exam bank, provides training on NRC Exam related topics and supports qualification and training of addition personnel in the area of NRC Exams. Develops Non-NRC Exams in support of licensed operator training.
- Supports program development and conducts training for all operator training programs including non-licensed operator, licensed operator, Shift Manager and Shift Technical Advisor per NRC requirements. Develop and administer examinations for all operator training programs. Analyze programs, operational experience and design training. Evaluate and assess various operator training programs. Pursue personnel development, learning and qualifications to support the various operator training programs. Once qualified, maintain SRO Certification to support instructional needs. Develop programs in support of the safe operation of the plant by exercising expertise in operations. Supports outages by transitioning to the plant staff during outages and assists with in-processing of contract employees for plant outages; participates as a member of the site Emergency Response Organization as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- High-school diploma or general education degree and associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school required.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.
- RO or SRO license or SRO Certification is preferred.
- 6 or more years nuclear operations instructional experience, which includes 2 years experience as Sr. Operations Instructor required Certification as an advanced instructor is required.
- Other certifications such as NRRPT, NICET, SRO, PE or SRO certification preferred.
- Recognized industry expert by one or more of the following means: (1) Active participation and leadership in industry or professional society working groups; (2) Published in professional society or industry publication; (3) Presentations to industry and professional society working group; and / or (4) Industry or professional society award and recognition for achievement.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to nuclear power plant required

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $95,200.00 to $135,200.00 per year
