Position Summary
This position is responsible for the overall management of the staff, processes and systems by which the design and safety analyses for reload cores are performed for the Xcel Energy's nuclear units. This position is also responsible for efforts to ensure fuel reliability, along with participation in industry-wide fuel reliability efforts. This position provides leadership and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams related to fuel performance. This position is also responsible for managing the budgets, both O&M and Capital, for the Nuclear Analysis and Design group. This position provides strategic direction and setting of goals for the Nuclear Analysis and Design group. Works with the Xcel Energy nuclear sites to ensure long-term objectives and goals are met. The Manager, Nuclear Analysis and Design is also the Design Authority for nuclear fuel and has the responsibility to approved any "use-as-is" and "repair" issues related to nuclear fuel.
Essential Responsibilities
This position effectively manages the Nuclear Analysis and Design group to ensure proper design, engineering and fabrication of reload cores for the Xcel Energy nuclear units. This includes functioning as the Design Authority for nuclear fuel.
Responsible for development and management of the O&M and Capital budgets for the Nuclear Analysis and Design group.
Responsible for all administrative procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and to ensure efficient, high-quality work. This includes oversight and monitoring of general quality issues in NAD and formal internal self-assessments.
Determines the strategic direction of Nuclear Analysis and Design, including interacting with the Xcel Energy nuclear sites and Corporate Office to set long-term objectives and goals and ensuring those objectives and goals are met.
Works in conjunction with nuclear fuel procurement to establish the technical content of nuclear fuel fabrication contracts. Approves the technical content contained in nuclear fuel fabrication contracts.
Approves the methods used by Nuclear Analysis and Design for the design of reload cores. Ensures those methods are up-to-date with industry standards.
Works in conjunction with Training to ensure the training program for Nuclear Analysis and Design meets industry standards.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering or equivalent with at least 10 years' experience and demonstrated technical expertise in PWR and BWR core physics and thermal dynamics.
Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise a highly technical engineering department, that includes many large diverse projects and pass nuclear security requirements.
Knowledge of nuclear fuel core design process and nuclear fuel reliability.

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $122,000.00 to $173,933.33 per year
