We are hiring a Procurement Engineer (Engineer I, Engineer II, Engineer, or Senior Engineer) at our Monticello, MN location! The job description below represents the duties and responsibilities for the Engineer I level. Additional duties and responsibilities may be required for higher level within the hierarchy. The successful candidate will be hired into the level that is appropriate with their experience.
Works under close supervision; receives specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and results expected. Performs routine engineering work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria required to carry out a sequence of related Electrical engineering.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with increasingly less supervision; receive specific and detailed instructions as to required tasks and results expected and using prescribed methods, perform specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer. Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
- Effectively use work management tools and perform engineering related assignments to support site and fleet goals. Complete miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- Provides technical services to support Nuclear Supply Chain processes.
- Manages Data-Governance, validates contract and purchase order requirements to ensure quality assurance requirements, and resolves receipt inspection issues.
- Performs technical evaluation of replacement parts for suitability, dedications of parts for safety-related applications, and downgrades of nuclear safety related sub-components.
- Supports value capture savings through material shelf-life extensions and other key initiatives.
- Supports Supply Chain related inspections and audits.
- Attend departmental and/or plant meetings and industry/fleet activities.
- Attend Training.
- May be required to travel to other Xcel Energy sites.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field from an ABET accredited college or university. Ability to obtain and maintain qualifications for unescorted access to Xcel Energy's nuclear power plants is an essential requirement of the position. May be required assume emergency response duties and live within 30 or 60 minutes from the nuclear generation station. Required to maintain nuclear "fitness for duty" during off hours if on call or designated emergency response duty. Incumbents must demonstrate satisfactory performance and progress in learning the skills and competencies to be an engineer in the nuclear utility business.
- Nuclear Engineer I requires 0-2 years of experience
- Nuclear Engineer II requires 2 years of experience
- Nuclear Engineer requires 6 years of experience
- Sr. Nuclear Engineer requires 8 or more years of experience
Preferred Requirements
Electrical Engineering or demonstrated related technical experience is preferred for this position.

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $86,200.00 to $184,935.00 per year
