Sr Director, Technology Architecture
Position Summary:
The role is a pivotal leadership role reporting directly to the VP of Data, AI, and Architecture. This strategic position is responsible for developing and executing the enterprise-wide technology architecture vision, aligning it with business objectives, and driving digital transformation initiatives. The role requires exceptional leadership skills to guide a team of architects and engineers, as well as the ability to influence and gain buy-in from stakeholders across the organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
Strategic Vision and Roadmap Development
- Lead the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive technology architecture roadmap, encompassing both core infrastructure/platform enhancements and digital transformation initiatives
- Collaborate with business leaders to translate strategic priorities into architectural requirements and technical solutions
- Develop and articulate compelling business cases and ROI analyses for proposed architecture initiatives, quantifying both hard and soft benefits
Leadership and Team Development
- Guide and mentor a team of senior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
- Empower team members to identify and propose architectural solutions that align with the overall roadmap
- Develop measurable objectives for the team that support organizational goals and drive technological advancement
Stakeholder Engagement and Influence
- Build strong relationships with business and technology leaders across the organization
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts and architecture strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership
- Demonstrate proven success in gaining buy-in for both core infrastructure/platform enhancements and digital transformation initiatives
Technology Strategy and Governance
- Establish and maintain technology standards, methodologies, and processes to govern the IT landscape
- Evaluate emerging technologies and their potential business applications, recommending strategic investments
- Ensure alignment between technology architecture and overall business strategy
Value Quantification and ROI Analysis
- Develop robust methodologies for quantifying the value of technology investments, including both tangible and intangible benefits
- Create compelling business cases that clearly articulate the ROI of proposed architecture initiatives
- Utilize financial metrics and cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making and budget allocation
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in technology architecture with a proven track record of leading enterprise-scale initiatives.
- Demonstrated success in gaining organizational buy-in for both infrastructure and digital transformation projects.
- Strong background in ROI analysis and business case development for technology investments.
- Deep understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies.
- Expertise in cloud platforms, microservices, API management, and emerging technologies.
- Experience with architecture modeling tools and techniques.
- Strong grasp of financial principles related to technology investments and ROI calculation.
- Exceptional ability to influence and gain buy-in across organizational boundaries.
- Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing technical teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Strategic thinking balanced with pragmatic delivery focus.

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $200,000.00 to $250,000.00 per year
