Sr Manager, IT (Operational Enterprise Security Services)
Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Operational Enterprise Security Services is responsible for leading and delivering reliable, compliant, and risk‑driven security operations across the enterprise. This role oversees 24x7 operational security services, leads high‑performing teams, and ensures security capabilities protect critical business operations while enabling enterprise objectives. The ideal candidate is an experienced operational leader who can balance execution, governance, and collaboration in a complex IT and OT environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Leadership: Lead and manage the performance and development of staff. Lead priorities and manage work performance of staff, vendors and contractors. Provide leadership as needed across multiple sites, and in alignment with Union or other contracts.
- Relationship Management: Understand the customers' needs, and partner to deliver innovative solutions. Partner with Supply Chain, Finance, Enterprise Security, Audit/Compliance and other internal groups to drive results.
- Product Management: Ensure products and services operate in a lean, stable, and adaptable manner. Ensure product delivery and operation are cost effective and within budget.
- Strategy and Planning: Develop, propose and manage long and mid-term strategic technology plans and roadmaps for assigned products and services
- Operations Management: Drive continuous improvement in IT performance. Proactively prevent and support prompt restoration of service disruptions.
- Lead day‑to‑day delivery of enterprise security operations, ensuring stable, resilient, and effective security services across the organization.
- Direct operational priorities using a risk‑based approach informed by threats, vulnerabilities, and business impact.
- Ensure security operations comply with internal policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., NERC CIP, SOX, TSA) through clear ownership, documentation, and controls.
- Lead and coordinate security incident response and operational disruptions, providing timely and accurate communication to stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Build, lead, and develop high‑performing operations teams, fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and a strong security culture.
- Partner closely with IT, OT, Risk Management, Audit, and business leaders to align security operations with enterprise priorities.
- Drive operational excellence by improving process maturity, service reliability, automation, and performance measurement.
- Manage operational budgets and capital investments, ensuring resources are aligned to risk reduction and measurable business outcomes.
- Communicate complex security and operational topics clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences, including executives.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Technology, Business or related field, or 4 years of experience equivalent to the position.
- Five years of prior people leadership experience
- Ten years of experience with end-to-end service lifecycle, business process, project or product management
- Five years of experience with strategic planning, portfolio prioritization, delivery execution, and operations.
- 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT operations, or enterprise security, including leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience leading operational teams in a 24x7 or mission‑critical environment
- Strong knowledge of security operations, incident response, and risk management
- Experience working in regulated environments with audit and compliance requirements
- Proven ability to partner across IT, OT, and business teams
- Excellent communication skills, effective with varying organizational levels and skill sets
- Excellent Relationship Management and collaboration skills, with a track record of working as one team cross-organizationally to drive innovation and business results
- Experience working within a highly regulated industry
- Ability to deliver value in compliance with policies and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to apply a customer focus, problem solve, and drive continuous improvement to solutions, systems and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to drive, adopt, and lead others through change in a diverse and dynamic environment
- Experience with Sourcing and Contract Management
- Proven ability to attain and hold in-depth acumen in business process, technical knowledge, and architectural topology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in utility, energy, critical infrastructure, or highly regulated industries
- Familiarity with NERC CIP or similar regulatory frameworks
- Experience leading SOC, IAM Operations, OT Security, or Security Platform Operations teams
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC, ITIL)
