Position Summary
The Sr Technical Functional Analyst, Transformation provides foundational business process and system understanding to support solution design and delivery within large-scale transformation programs. This role works under the guidance of Technical-Functional Consultants, Senior Consultants, or Principals to translate defined business requirements into functional documentation, configuration inputs, and testing assets.
The Sr Technical Functional Analyst partners with business SMEs, solution consultants, developers, data teams, and testing teams to support accurate, traceable, and high-quality functional deliverables. While not responsible for end-to-end functional strategy or cross-domain integration decisions, this role plays a critical execution role in maintaining functional quality, validating requirements, supporting testing activities, and contributing to day-to-day issue resolution throughout the program lifecycle.
This role contributes to workshops, analyzes current-state versus future-state processes, documents functional specifications, and supports readiness activities within assigned functional domains. Through participation in program delivery, the role gains exposure to upstream solution design activities and downstream technical implementation processes, supporting long-term capability development within the transformation organization.
Essential Responsibilities
Support the translation of business needs into system-enabled solutions by documenting functional requirements, current-state processes, and defined enhancement needs under the direction of senior consultants.
Assist with requirements and design workshops by capturing inputs, documenting process flows, and preparing functional materials such as use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Analyze assigned business processes and contribute to mapping them to system capabilities, identifying gaps, and documenting preliminary solution recommendations.
Prepare functional documentation including process flows, functional specifications, field mappings, configuration inputs, test scripts, and defect records.
Partner with Techno-Functional Consultants, developers, data teams, and business SMEs to validate functional assumptions and ensure traceability across requirements, design, build, and testing.
Execute functional testing activities (unit, integration, UAT support), document results, and escalate defects or variances requiring higher-level review.
Support configuration and solution build activities by reviewing outputs, validating expected behavior, and flagging inconsistencies or risks.
Maintain functional logs, decision trackers, and documentation repositories to support quality, consistency, and program compliance.
Collaborate with solution and engineering teams to gain exposure to adjacent disciplines while maintaining primary accountability within the techno-functional execution role.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
3+ years of experience supporting enterprise systems, business process analysis, or transformation initiatives (internships, co-ops, or project-based experience may apply).
Experience preparing or supporting functional documentation such as requirements, process flows, test cases, or configuration inputs.
Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills with the ability to work collaboratively with business SMEs, developers, and cross-functional team members.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain organized artifacts, and deliver high-quality outputs within project timelines.
Willingness to learn enterprise systems, transformation delivery practices, and functional solution design concepts in a complex program environment.
Work Model: Hybrid - in office Tuesday through Thursday.
Some travel required; on average, 1 week in CO and 1 week in MN every month.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with functional and technical side of SAP IS-U software implementation projects.
Functional knowledge with Utilities Customer Products and Services (i.e. Renewables, Electric Vehicle Programs).
