Position Summary

Develops and maintains historic and predictive models and forecasts of short- and long-term workload and manpower resources. Designs and performs quantitative studies and presents recommendations in support of strategic workload and manpower resourcing for Xcel Energy Distribution design, construction and maintenance activities. Continually defines and coordinates existing and future data requirements for the analysis necessary to optimize the accomplishment of Xcel Energy Distribution and Strategic Resource Planning. Contributes to a high-performing, motivated workgroup by applying statistical, analytical, interpersonal communication and collaboration skills to achieve financial and performance goals and metrics.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain historic and predictive models and forecasts of the economic, workload and workforce factors that impact the accomplishment of Xcel Energy Distribution capital, O&M and reliability commitments in a timely and cost-effective manner. Entails performing data acquisition, analysis, output interpretation and result presentations. Prepare multiple scenarios and perform sensitivity testing.

  • Design and perform quantitative analysis of financial, workload and manpower data from multiple corporate systems utilizing a variety of query and analysis applications in support of work force planning and utilization. Respond to business unit requests for analyses in support of their resource decision-making. Prepare reporting (routine and ad hoc) and presentations for Asset Management, OpCo leadership and Field Operations based on analysis and modeling results.

  • Support the creation and maintenance of annual workload-to-resource plans for OpCo Distribution design, construction and maintenance activities. Perform quarterly statistical post-plan implementation effectiveness evaluations as part of process improvement.

  • Continually define and coordinate existing and future data requirements to optimize the accomplishments of Xcel Energy Distribution and the effectiveness of Strategic Resource Planning. Provide consultation and recommendations on appropriate query tools utilization, statistical methodologies and database applications. Assist in developing new processes to increase efficiencies and enhance reporting capabilities

  • Interface with personnel from Business Systems, Asset Management, Investment Delivery, Business Operations and Planning, Financial Operations and Human Resources in order to ensure data availability, integrity and quality.

  • Work directly with IT technical support personnel in the development, enhancement and maintenance of various information repositories and metric reporting systems necessary to plan and manage the Distribution Design, Construction and Maintenance workload.

  • Lead and/or perform special projects as needed


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Market Research, or Business required.

  • Must have at least five years of experience in database development, quantitative/statistical analysis and historical/predictive modeling and forecasting.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in a wide range of database programs, analytical and reporting tools; may include but is not limited to Excel, Access, Passport, work management software, SPSS, SQL, Brio, Crystal and web-based applications.

  • Demonstrated advanced skills in problem solving, negotiating, oral and written communication of technical information, customer service and relationship development.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement or synergies that lead to goal achievement.

  • Selection criteria may include testing and/or assessment.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $82,800.00 to $117,600.00 per year
