Project Description:
Substation Communication Engineering is responsible for providing secure and reliable supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA), teleprotection, and remote engineering access services for the electric power system. An Engineering Intern on the Substation Communication Engineering team will get hands-on experience programming Remote Terminal Units (RTU) using the Distributed Network Protocol (DNP), configuring network settings for substation cyber assets, and investigating network event logs. An Engineering Intern will learn about the Energy Management System (EMS), system protection, and cybersecurity associated with the reliable operation of the electric power system. This internship will begin January 2025.
This opportunity will begin in January with the potential to extend into the summer. The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer and 10-20 hrs./wk. during a school semester. The candidate will also have the opportunity to join the team full-time after graduation if the work is a good fit for the company.
Through practical operations experience and mentoring, a successful candidate will gain significant professional confidence and people skills.
Minimum Requirements:
MS office
Interest in learning cybersecurity and networking
Power Systems
Communications
Must be enrolled in an accredited College studying Electrical or Computer engineering.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.70 per hour
