Position Summary

Support the vision and strategic plan of the department by supervising and directing a team of engineers and other roles that support the department's objectives. Responsible for the management of the day-to-day operations of the team, including review of engineering designs/solutions, making job assignments, coordinating with other departments, and employee development. Support the operations and maintenance of the company's assets, establish priorities at the individual contributor level as well as for the department, and ensure work is competed to meet or exceed expected quality and schedule requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide tactical leadership of the engineering staff resources to ensure commitments for products, support, and continuous improvement are met. This includes making work assignments, establishing priorities, oversight of product quality and schedule adherence and development and implementation of improvement plans. Will modify, approve, seal or sign work products. Will approve work orders.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the engineering staff resources by championing the corporate and business unit strategic priorities and connecting them to the day to day work occurring by the team. Support and actively participate in the development of direct reports through training, mentoring, and succession development. Conduct hiring, performance development, discipline, and promotion for employees under direct supervision.
  • Represent the department as the point of contact for and establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and coordinate departmental activities with those stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and aggressively pursue issues, including regulatory requirements, that may impact the strategic direction of the business unit. Integrate Corporate policies, priorities, and objectives to improve performance. Apply industry best practice, core competencies and success factors to establish performance expectations.
  • Effectively assess, manage, and operate the assets of the business unit to support the corporation and our customers.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years experience.
  • Utility industry experience preferred.
  • Project management or other informal leadership experience preferred.
  • EIT/FE preferred. May be subject to on-call duty.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $92,300.00 to $130,567.00 per year
