Position Summary:
The SVP Integrated System Planning is responsible for the long-term system planning for the larger enterprise. This role plays a critical role in ensuring the company is prepared for the grid of the future and changing landscape related to distributed energy resources. Understanding both the regulatory and utility spheres, this role will lead a robust team dedicated to planning, modeling, and design of the system. Working alongside Operations leaders, the SVP of Integrated System Planning will work to ensure operations and long-term planning are aligned in both strategy and execution.
Essential Responsibilities
Establish seamless planning coordination: Align with the vision to provide the grid of the future and establish planning outcomes that allow the Ops organization to execute effectively (on time, on budget).
Strategically align capital and O&M deployment: Optimize corporate needs through strategic alignment. Ensure partnership and collaboration with operations, operating companies, and all applicable internal and external stakeholders.
Create the integrated plan of the future: Oversee and lead the development of the comprehensive system plans for all OpCos, including standards documentation. Ensure corporate objectives are met including cost competitiveness, carbon reduction, resiliency, and reliability.
Capital Prioritization Standard: Develop a risk-based capital prioritization standard across Operations and Xcel Energy.
Safety and Security: Build safety and security into standards and compliance programs. Ensure safety performance of all team members and contractors utilizing the "Safety Always" program principles and philosophy.
Legacy Asset Spend Governance: Define governance and standards for rebuilding and renewing legacy assets within O&M and capital constraints; partnering closely with internal stakeholders.
Develop a planning workforce: Collaborate with HR to build skills and capabilities for the future grid. Including robust staffing plans ensuring talent is retained, developed, and engaged.
Operational Excellence and One Xcel Way: Optimize strategic planning and operations activities to plan and execute an integrated energy system, focused on core capabilities, to serve customers reliably, affordably, and sustainably.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelors Degree required, engineering, construction/project management, business preferred.
15+ years of relevant experience within the energy/utility industry, operations experience in the industry with a strong understanding of strategic planning, project execution and regulatory environments.
Executive presence, talent advocacy, strategic thinking, adaptability. Ability to engage with large groups and align day-to-day activities with long-term vision.
Core understanding of system planning, modeling, risk management, long term forecasting and grid resilience.
Experience and understanding of distributed energy resources and climate impact on grid systems.
Strong analytical skills enabling transparency into actual portfolio performance.
Demonstrated mentoring and coaching skills focused on developing people. Track record of leading successful teams.

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $280,000.00 to $320,000.00 per year
