Project Description:
Working with a cross functional team of engineering, operations, and analysts to support wildfire mitigation efforts on the Transmission system in all Xcel Energy territories. The work may include entry level engineering and analyst tasks centered around mitigation technique reporting and analysis, data mining and benchmarking with other utilities and organizations, support of field and control center operational groups, and problem solving related to current and proposed mitigation techniques. Through practical operations experience and mentoring, a successful candidate will gain significant professional confidence and people skills.
This will be a summer opportunity will begin in January 2025 (can we post sooner for work in early 2025?); with the potential to extend into a school semester. The candidate should be able to work full-time during the summer. If the intern works during the school year, their hours should be part-time.
Minimum Requirements:
Enrolled in programs focused on Science, Technology, or Mathematics, such as computer engineering, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, mathematics, statistics, economics, data science, electric design, project management, construction management, chemistry, environmental studies, natural sciences, and similar.
Engineering and Computer Science degrees are preferred.
Coursework in electric power systems, risk analysis, data analytics, and programming are preferred.

Non-Bargaining
The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.40 per hour
This position is eligible for the following benefits: Pension, 401(k) plan, Paid time off (PTO), Holidays
