Position Summary

Has technical support responsibility for interpreting, organizing, coordination of project assignments. Coordinates and often determines the requirements for data acquisition, control, and information management for the Gas Control Center, Gas Plant, and Gas Dispatch / Emergency Response systems and coordinates the development of computer systems to meet these requirements utilizing technology consistent with company direction. Plans and develops projects which have considerable impact on the gas operations. Serves as technical specialist for gas operation department

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, coordinates and directs gas operations projects and is responsible for the ongoing monitoring of the progress of those projects. Along with the reviewing, checking, and testing of the work completed by the (RTU, mobile communications, Ventex, Passport, RoverInk, SCADA, MAPCOM and MMIG), system programmers. Works to resolve issues identified and re-validate functionality prior to rolling changes out into the production environments

  • Participates in the development of new technologies, leads implementation of new technologies and executes trouble shooting of existing technologies (RTU, mobile communications, Ventex, Passport, RoverInk, SCADA, MAPCOM) so that public safety, employee safety, compliance, productivity, stakeholder requirements are met

  • Leads the effort and often determines the requirements for data acquisition and information management for the Gas Control Center, Gas Plant, and Gas Dispatch / Emergency Response systems. Participates in gathering, creating, and documenting user requirements and works with business systems to ensure requirements are met. Ensures technical documentation is created and maintained. Conceives plans and conducts research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity.

  • Has technical responsibility for developing and providing system training for gas system controllers, plant operator / controllers, dispatchers and field technicians and others on safe techniques for operating and maintaining gas operations systems / mobile applications, operating guidelines and special operating conditions. Assist in the development, maintaining, and revising standard operating procedures and policies. Evaluate effectiveness of the training and modify as needed.

  • Coordinates development and implements compliance reporting, emergency response reporting, gas plant maintenance reporting and alarm management reporting.

  • Keeps abreast of technology, industry and business trends to ensure that appropriate technologies are being considered in the planning process that meet organizational requirements. This requires attending industry workshops and seminars, as well as, reading various related materials.

  • Provides day to day as well as on-call support of department personnel relating to technical issues


Minimum Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or completion of an accredited technical institute program along with a minimum of 10 years experience in the natural gas business such as operations engineering, gas supply, gas control.

  • Gas operations experience of which 7 years were involved in gas systems development supporting gas control systems or gas plant maintenance systems and or mobile data applications (RTU, mobile communications, Ventex, Passport, RoverInk, SCADA, MAPCOM and gas SCADA.

  • Must possess strong analytical skills to determine information management needs through job experience in the gas control area and information management systems to meet those needs, with an in-depth knowledge of the gas operations north gas delivery system operation and location.

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply DOT/ PHMSA, FERC, TSA, and PUC regulations.

  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal direction on a daily basis as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment to successfully meet common goals.

  • Proffered technical skills or demonstrated ability to learn to the following technologies; Cicode, C, SQL, Visual Basic, Windows, C/C++, and Citcode.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $84,900.00 to $120,566.00 per year
