Career Development Assignments (CDAs) provide opportunities for current employees to develop on-the-job by growing their skillsets and providing a fresh perspective in a developmental role. CDAs also build the company’s bench strength, grow internal networks, and support cross-functional knowledge sharing. As this is an opportunity to develop, applicants may not need to meet all minimum qualifications. However, they must meet license requirements as specified by federal and local law and successfully complete necessary pre-hire assessments per company guidelines. With development being the main priority, typically the successful candidate’s salary and job grade will remain the same while in this assignment.

This CDA may last up to 6-18 months. 

Position Summary

Provide high quality customer interactions to business customers across multiple jurisdictions by anticipating their needs and resolving issues through multiple channels in a Contact Center environment. Provide accurate and detailed information, recommendations and solutions concerning energy utilization. Coordinate and analyze technical data for billing activities. Negotiate payments and pay arrangements to support business objectives. Initiate outbound contacts to provide resolution to critical customer service issues. Offer value added products and services. Back-up support for Managed Account customers. Interface with BSC leadership and other departments by recommending improved processes and products and services. Maintain individual performance indicators that support overall business objectives.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell value added products and services to business customers. Consistent capture of customer contacts/needs via sales tracking software. Seek to understand individual needs. Research, analyze, and provide solutions for business customer needs using multiple tools and systems. Respond accurately and quickly to billing inquiries; analyze and explain complex rates; provide rate comparisons; process payments; negotiate payment arrangements; consult on products and service options for customers; handle gas and electric service calls, support electric and gas curtailment events; evaluate power quality issues; establish, transfer and/or disconnect service including outages.

  • Support customers as the "Single Point of Contact" for accounts that require an extraordinary level of service in order to conduct business. Initiate action for field and billing investigations and follow up with the customer. Provide technical and troubleshooting assistance for customer facing self-service tools such as My Account, XE.com, etc.

  • Perform other duties as assigned including work on special projects.


Minimum Requirements

  • College degree preferred.

  • At least two years of sales, marketing, or customer service experience and proven results, (outside business experience a plus).

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.

  • A working knowledge of marketing programs, applicable rates, electric and gas delivery, and customer information system desired.

  • Ability to work with multiple computer environments while talking on the phone, demonstrated high levels of customer focus, teamwork skills, work plan initiative, and the ability to work without direct supervision needed.

  • Successfully pass assessment.

  • On-call participation during emergency/outage rotation required.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $15.40 to $21.54 per year
