Date: Feb 26, 2019

Location: CO - Denver, US, 80202

Company: Xcel Energy

Location(s): CO - Denver

Is it time to see how all those college courses translate to the real world?  Are you ready to work alongside experienced professionals on real projects and issues? An internship at Xcel Energy will give you practical experience in the energy industry at a company that’s committed to excellence, safety and environmental stewardship.

Xcel Energy has become a leader in the energy industry by demonstrating excellence in environmental performance. Our environmental commitment includes improving air quality, conserving resources, harnessing renewable energy, and protecting wildlife and habitats. Xcel Energy's vitality comes from our people. It takes professionals in engineering, customer service, linemen, marketing and sales professionals, energy traders, mechanics, finance and accounting professionals and many others to power our company.

The skills acquired in this internship provide an incredible insight into the energy industry and will prepare a student well beyond the classroom for the next step in a solid career within a well-established industry.  This type of development and preparation does take time, so the student commitment expected for this position is at least 18 months - this requires that the intern maintains student status for the entirety of the internship period; therefore, preference is for a sophomore or first semester Junior. This is a paid internship position: 20 hours per week during academic periods, and up to 40 hours per week during non-academic periods including summer and school breaks. The academic school year weekly schedule can be flexible (such as 8am - 12 noon MWF and 1pm - 5pm TTh).  Based on the expected commitment, preference will be given to students at colleges and universities within a reasonable distance of downtown Denver.  Xcel Energy will publish this posting at the following institutions: Colorado School of Mines, Metro State University, Regis University, University of Colorado - Boulder, University of Colorado - Denver, and University of Denver.
