Position Summary
Responsible for providing strategic perspective and leadership to assure the achievement of a sustainable high level of nuclear site leadership performance. Identifies opportunities to improve site leadership and organizational performance. Collaborates with site leaders to develop and implement plans to change leadership and site behavior changes to achieve and sustain a high level of site organizational performance. Provides coaching, feedback and mentoring to site leaders to influence changes in leadership team behaviors to align with the nuclear management model and evolving industry standards; and provides industry best practices, lessons learned, and recommendations to site and corporate leaders for implementation. Applies the company’s leadership competencies and behaviors to provide feedback to managers and Human Resources on leadership performance, use of the positive discipline process, and successon planning

Essential Responsibilities

  • Monitor leadership behaviors and their effect on site teamwork, alignment, and performance to augment data analysis to judge leadership and organizational performance. Work with seniorleaders and Human Resources to assure effectiveness of actions and modification of leadershipstrategies if required. Based on follow-up, determine the need for formal documentation of performance issues, including use of Elevation or Escalation.
  • Work collaboratively with site and corporate leaders to develop and implement strategic organizational performance improvement plans to achieve industry leading site organization andleadership performance. Includes identifying relevant industry best-practices, standards, and lessons learned applicable to the site’s specific circumstances to achieve high performance.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to site leaders, including mentoring mid-level managers and supervisors, on leadership performance gaps and development areas, including leadership and organizational behaviors and effectiveness. Provide feedback and recommendations to senior leadership and HR on leadership performance for performance management, personal development planning, and succession planning. This includes feedback to HR on site or work group performance and actions to improve leadership behaviors.
  • Lead cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to evaluate nuclear site and corporate performance, comparing behaviors and performance to established company and industrybehavioral standards, leadership competencies and organizational performance benchmarks, defining gaps in performance to be addressed to prevent performance decline and assure continued performance improvement.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering or technical field required.
  • Equivalent education and/or relevant experience may be substituted for the technical degree requirement.
  • Demonstrated strong performance in site organizational leadership roles and have the potential to be successful in positions of greater responsibility.
  • Past Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license, Certification or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years nuclear experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years commercial utility nuclear management experience including experience as a department or work group manager leading supervisors or managers.
  • Multi-utility/multi-functional experience preferred.



ERO requirement, remaining Monti/PI positions:

Must live within 90 minutes to ensure proper implementation of Emergency Response plan.


A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).


This position requires continuity in your new role for 24 months. During that time, you will not be eligible to apply for or request to be moved to any other job at the Company until the continuity timeframe has been met, unless otherwise approved by senior leadership.
